Symposium on the Birth Anniversary of Hazrat Fatima Zahra (PBUH) “Janabe Sayyeda Fatimah Al Zahra: Virtues as a Role Model for Women and Humanity”
On the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of Hazrat Sayyeda Fatima Zahra (Peace Be Upon Her), the only daughter of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), a symposium titled “Janabe Sayyeda Fatimah Al Zahra: Virtues as a Role Model for Women and Humanity” was organized on Saturday, 13 December 2025, at the Assembly Hall of G. M. Momin Women’s College, Bhiwandi, Mumbai Suburbs. The programme was held in G. M. Momin Women’s College.

M. Momin Women’s College, Bhiwandi, Mumbai Suburbs. The programme was held in G. M. Momin Women’s College.
The symposium was graced by Mr. Saeed Reza Mosayeb Motlagh, Honorable Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai, as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished dignitaries present on the occasion included Mr. Mohammad Reza Fazel, Cultural Attaché and Director of the Culture House of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai; Dr. Tabassum Shaikh, Dean and Principal of G. M. Momin Women’s College; and Prof. Bushra Abedi, former member of the Muslim Personal Law Board. Faculty members, students, and invited guests attended the programme in large numbers, creating a spiritually vibrant and intellectually enriching atmosphere.
The event also witnessed the presence of families of Iranian diplomats residing in Mumbai, along with members of the Iranian community, symbolizing cultural harmony and mutual respect.
The programme commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by the rendition of the Indian National Anthem. As a gesture of appreciation and goodwill, Dr. Tabassum Shaikh presented mementos to the Honorable Consul General and the Cultural Attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In her inaugural address, Dr. Tabassum Shaikh extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries and expressed her sincere gratitude to the Consul General and the Cultural Attaché for their gracious presence and continued support. She highlighted the academic, cultural, and social initiatives of the college and elaborated on the exemplary life, virtues, and universal relevance of Hazrat Fatima Zahra (PBUH). She emphasized the importance of organizing such symposiums to inspire young women and to inculcate moral, ethical, and humanitarian values.
The special speaker of the symposium, Prof. Bushra Abedi, expressed her pleasure at being part of the programme. In her enlightening address, she spoke in depth about the noble personality of Hazrat Fatima Zahra (PBUH), portraying her as an ideal daughter, wife, and mother, and reflected upon her life alongside Hazrat Ali (PBUH). She also highlighted the esteemed position of the Imams in Islam and their significant role in guiding humanity. Her address was widely appreciated by the audience.
Subsequently, Mr. Mohammad Reza Fazel, Cultural Attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai, extended his heartfelt congratulations on the blessed occasion of the birth anniversary of Hazrat Fatima Zahra (PBUH) and Women’s Day. He appreciated the efforts of the college management, faculty members, and especially Dr. Tabassum Shaikh, for organizing the symposium. He underscored the vital role played by women in the social, cultural, and intellectual development of society.
In his presidential address, Mr. Saeed Reza Mosayeb Motlagh, Honorable Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai, congratulated the gathering on this meaningful occasion. He eloquently spoke about the outstanding virtues and moral excellence of Hazrat Fatima Zahra (PBUH) and emphasized the pivotal role of women in contemporary society, particularly among Muslims. He described women as architects of future generations and encouraged students to pursue education with dedication, especially in the field of modern sciences, while upholding strong moral values.
The symposium concluded with the distribution of gifts by the Culture House of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Dean of the College, members of the Board of Trustees, and the top 15 female students in recognition of their academic excellence. The programme ended on a note of gratitude, cultural harmony, and renewed inspiration, leaving a lasting impression on all participants.
